Hopefully everyone has had a fantastic half term and are eager to get started on what will be a very busy term ahead. I am pleased to say that the children have settled into Year 6 very well and they have worked hard during this first half term.
Within our English lessons, we will be concentrating on classic fiction and will be using a range of texts including The Wizard of Oz. We will also be looking at instructional writing as we head closer to Christmas. Maths lessons will focus on fractions in detail plus the four operations. In addition to this, we will be looking at arithmetic and reasoning SAT style questions.
In topic the children will be familiarising themselves with many great British pioneers from the 21st century as well as learning about the Tudors. For more details on other subjects, please find a detailed ‘Curriculum Jigsaw’ for your child’s teaching and learning for the next half term.
There are a few reminders regarding homework. 12 spellings will be given out on a Wednesday for a test the following Wednesday. Homework will be given out on a Friday (maths and grammar), to be returned by following Wednesday. Additionally, there will be projects given based on topic subjects, please find a range of websites below to help your child research each study.
All children have been given a reading journal, reading book and library book to bring home, which they will change as often as necessary. Please encourage your child to read every evening. If you have any queries do get in touch.
Throughout this half term, there will be lots going on in school, including our very own special 'Health and Wellbeing Day' so please keep checking this webpage for updates on our class, as we love using the internet as a way to communicate with you.
