Aims and Values

Welcome to our Vision and Values Page

Here I have included our proposed Vision and Values for the academic year 2019/2020.  This work had been done as a collaboration throughout our school community.  We hope you feel, like we do, that our vision, mission and values truly represent our school, our aspirations and our desire to make our school an amazing place to learn.

Our Vision

Within this truly distinctive Methodist School, our common purpose is to enable every child to thrive academically, emotionally and spiritually and to become the person God intends them to be. We will be a school of which the local community and the Methodist Church are justly proud.

Our Mission

“Brighter futures built with Ambition, Courage and Respect; filled with Love, Hope and Faith”

All at Ribbleton Avenue Methodist Junior School are Champions for Children: we want our children to have faith in themselves to become the people God intends them to be. RAMJS is a voluntary controlled church school serving a diverse community with a variety of complex needs. As a Methodist school we are challenged to ask, ‘What is the work of God in this place?’ We believe that God’s purpose for all people is that they should have ‘hope and a future’ (Jeremiah 29:11). In our context, as a diverse community in an area of significant economic, social and educational deprivation we believe we are called to work for transformation of our children, their families and our neighbourhood.  We are in a privileged position to have a positive impact on our locality and the children and families in it.

At RAMJS, diversity and uniqueness are celebrated. Our children are God’s children, made in God’s image. Our community brings together people of many faiths and beliefs into our one school family where we work together to build love, tolerance and respect into all we do.

The needs of our children underpin everything that we do. We want our children to be safe, healthy and filled with courage to embrace ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10) in the world into which they are growing up. We aim to provide an ambitious learning experience that is skills based, developmental and suited to the modern day learner. We ‘lift our eyes to the hills’ (Psalm 121) and through exciting opportunities in lessons and the wider curriculum our children will become well rounded, caring, change-makers in our world. Each child is at the heart of all we do with their emotional and physical and spiritual needs being met through our holistic learning approaches so that they can become the best they can be – and are meant to be.

Our Values

With loving hearts and minds we cherish our friends and families.  We care for the world around us so that as a community working together, our future is brighter.

“Do everything in love.”

Corinthians 16:14

With ambitious hearts and minds we are motivated to work hard and do our best.  Our ambition to make a difference in our own world and the world around us makes us stronger.

“Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”

Philippians 2:4

With respectful hearts and minds we treat each other equally; however, we differ from each other.  We work together, valuing each person, their thoughts, feelings and faith.

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.”

Matthew 7:12

With courageous hearts and minds we stand up for our beliefs and the things that matter to us; we are united as one. Together we are daring, fearless and never give up!

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

  Corinthians 16:13

With hopeful hearts and minds we believe in a brighter future for ourselves and the world around us; we will be a beacon of hope in our community that will help to make a difference!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Jerimiah 29:11

With faithful hearts and minds we have trust in each other, ourselves and in our God to help us be the best we can be!

“Do not fear, for I am with you”

Isaiah 41:10

The school is pleased to share with you the full statement of aims for its pupils.  They reflect our values and beliefs and provide an overview of the educational provision we wish to offer all children.

RAMJS is a school where quality education is available to children.

It is a Christian school where, regardless of personal circumstances, children will find themselves in an environment where their abilities will be stimulated, developed and extended.

Each child will be important and have a sense of worth.  This will be achieved through a balanced curriculum, which will be collaboratively planned.  There will be detailed record keeping with child participation, together with excellent resourcing and emphasis on personal development. It is our aim for every aspect of school life to be recognised by the child, the parent and the school.

This education will be provided for the child in a secure environment promoted in a positive way.

  • Each child is valued as an individual, acknowledged by name, listened to, shown respect and given appropriate time and support.
  • A range of teaching and social experiences is provided to develop in children an increasing awareness of others, within the school and the wider community.
  • High expectations of work and behaviour are constantly sought.
  • School routines, organisation and the framework of discipline are clearly explained.
  • Children are included in aspects of decision making in the classroom.
  • Rewards are given regularly for effort and achievement, and perseverance is encouraged.
  • Children are encouraged to accept increasing responsibilities for resources, equipment and possessions.  Christian values are emphasised.
  • Appropriate and effective displays of children’s work are used to enhance the learning environment.
  • Children’s work is marked with care, responded to with positive or    constructive comments, and when necessary more support is given.
